The U.S. State Department reported on February 8th that 18 U.S. citizens died in the
December 26, 2004 Asian tsunami disaster; 15 are presumed dead; and 18 more are missing.
The 18 confirmed dead include 10 in Thailand and 8 in Sri Lanka, and the 15 presumed dead include 14 in Thailand and one in Sri Lanka.
"We will not stop until we know everything we can know," said Adam Ereli, a State Department spokesman.
The total number of people dead or presumed dead from all countries is now over 295,000.
