Thaksin Shinawatra, the prime minister of Thailand, is calling for more tsunami aid relief for his country, but says Thailand does not need financial assistance.
“Others need more help than us,” said Thaksin in his first television interview since the tsunami hit on December 26, 2004.
More that 5,300 people were killed in Thailand because of the tsunami, and almost 3,400 people are listed as missing.
Thaksin said that about 3,000 bodies have yet to be identified and extensive searches for the missing are still underway.
